About this ebook

In the depths of the Nevada desert, FBI agent Rachel Walling and former LAPD Detective Harry Bosch must confront The Poet, a terrifying serial killer who leads them down a dark and twisted path.
FBI agent Rachel Walling finally gets the call she's dreaded for years, the one that tells her the Poet has surfaced. She has never forgotten the serial killer who wove lines of poetry in his hideous crimes -- and apparently he has not forgotten her.
Former LAPD detective Harry Bosch gets a call, too -- from the widow of an old friend. Her husband's death seems natural, but his ties to the hunt for the Poet make Bosch dig deep. Arriving at a derelict spot in the California desert where the feds are unearthing bodies, Bosch joins forces with Rachel. Now the two are at odds with the FBI . . . and squarely in the path of the Poet, who will lead them on a wicked ride out of the heat, through the narrows of evil, and into a darkness all his own . . .

This was a fun book that took the reader on a dark but awesome ride. Bosch gets brought into the world of The Poet by way of Mrs. McCaleb. She hires him to find the killer of her husband Terry McCaleb (RIP Terry, loved you in Blood Work!). Through a very tangled storyline that brings so many clues and evidence together to paint a picture, the unravelling of the multi leyers of story is masterful. Bosch is very welcome in this latest "The Poet" book, bringing his laser-like focus to this latest investigation. Reading this book was a blast, and bringing in multiple characters from different Bosch universe books was top notch. I did find the FBI specific chapters to be boring. As the book progresses, you cheer on Bosch and Rachel to catch The Poet. The geography covered is so much fun and the action is fantastic. The final pages of the book grab you hard and keep you reading. The ending left us in limbo! No definitive ending... At least not a great ending to lead to the next book. 4.25/5.
