About this ebook

When the dust settles in this Texas town, who will be left standing?

It’s been six weeks since Jack McBride’s life went to hell: the resolution of his first case as chief sparked a county-wide drug war, his brother Eddie rode into town with a pocket full of cocaine and trouble on his mind, his estranged wife returned from her one-year sabbatical determined to win him back, and Ellie Martin ended their brief affair.

To the Stillwater natives, the increase in local crime can be traced directly back to the day outsider McBride took the job, and they’re gunning to get rid of him. One particular group is led by Joe Doyle, a successful local businessman who’s running for city council against Ellie and her plan to revitalize downtown. Now Jack has discovered proof Doyle is the biggest crime lord in the county, and, with murders piling up and the drug war intensifying, Jack suspects the crimes aren’t business but personal—and he’s the target.

The bitter election and Jack’s investigation spark old rivalries and new jealousies, making Ellie and those who love Stillwater most wonder if it’s even worth saving.

I only write this, maybe because I am a fool and easily fooled, but just in case there are other fools such as myself, this is not the novel the 1991 film starring Robin Williams and Jeff Bridges was based on. I feel the title is deceptive. Next, this is not a mystery, the only mystery is when will the main characters stop gushing over each other and do something, do anything. This is a serial romance novel with all the contrived characters and plot of a serial romance novel. The novel has more cliches crawling though it than maggots on rotting meat. Now, to be fair, the novel never advertises itself as the novel on which the movie "The Fisher King" was based, and I suppose if you enjoy serial romances chances are you will enjoy this book. I tried to finish this book, I really did, but it's just not my cup of tea.

Origin of the alphabet; number line, computer is the same place. There isn't a calendar without a programmer; different ones in society are for companies to supply basic utilities; motor vehicles, food clothes & shelter. Computer programs give the answers to outstanding questions; humans do not. They also drive all artificial moving objects; humans do not. One program designs all the building and a different one does cars; the program includes after they are built schedules for them and us. Cameras are a derivative of computer separate from video recorder for unreal pictures and photograph obstructing justice to disappear or vanish includes video tapes & DVD's.
