About this ebook

What could possibly go wrong on a glorious summer holiday? Quite a few things, as proven in this collection of deadly and dangerous tales. Eerily deserted Mediterranean hotels, baffling murders on rural Kentish riverbanks - summertime is a dangerous season indeed.

A young typist about to take some holiday is trapped in her flat by an armed robber. On board a ship bound for Italy, two men attempt to steal a priceless pearl. In Paris, an adulterous aristocrat brings his wife and his scheming secret lover together in the stifling July heat. Selected and introduced by crime writer Matthew Booth, this anthology is sure to please classic crime fans old and new, with a host of famous sleuths like Sherlock Holmes and Father Brown alongside many more masterful, often underappreciated, tales of danger.

This edition is part of the Macmillan Collector’s Library, a series of stunning, cloth-bound, pocket-sized classics with gold foiled edges and ribbon markers. These beautiful books make perfect gifts or a treat for any book lover.
