About this ebook

First published in 1818, Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is one of the most important novels in English literature. Mary Shelley’s haunting story of ambition, responsibility, and human suffering continues to shape how we think about science, ethics, and the nature of creation.

This novel is not simply a gothic tale of terror. It is a deeply human story about loneliness, rejection, and the consequences of knowledge pursued without wisdom. Through Victor Frankenstein and the being he brings into the world, Shelley explores what happens when a creator refuses to take responsibility for what he has made.

This Open Book House Publishing & Solutions edition presents the complete original 1818 public-domain text, carefully restored and formatted for modern readers. The original language, chapter structure, and narrative voice have been preserved.

This edition includes:

• A biographical essay on Mary Shelley

• Chapter-by-chapter summaries and annotations

• Selected black-and-white illustrations inspired by the novel

• A clean, readable layout for print and Kindle

These materials are designed to help readers understand and appreciate Shelley’s work without altering or rewriting the original story.

Frankenstein remains one of the most powerful and relevant novels ever written, especially in an age shaped by artificial intelligence, genetic science, and moral uncertainty. This edition invites readers to experience Mary Shelley’s masterpiece in a thoughtful, carefully presented form.
