Good advice and good visual examples to follow. I'm an long time artist so I know most of these techniques already, but I still like to collect art books and see if there is any tips or extra inspiration I can pick up. I recommend this book for beginners interested in drawing with pen/ink as most examples & instructions are about using pens on all the various subjects it mentions teaching, starting with landscapes first. I docked a single star because learning some basic color would have been good to include, but it sticks to black and white pen.

I've tried multiple online courses, tutorials, guides, even things listed for absolute beginners. This was the first material to ever help me draw entire environments, learn how to draw rocks, and get over my fear of using a pen quite literally within an hour of beginning. I will solely credit this material as what got me started into art. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for this.

I really appreciated the intelligent at times "wordy" explanations and examples of certain effects and techniques! The book would almost definitely confuse the absolute beginner. That's just my opinion though. If you like to see examples and the results of some of the techniques you will be sadly disappointed as there is not one photograph in the whole ebook. Not sure if the printed version does? Hopefully I have helped you to make your decision easier!? ~jason Rodriguez~
