About this ebook

Five years after the Shan were nearly destroyed on Pandora, Harmony no longer waits behind human shields. The Shan have rebuilt their defences, launching vast Denships capable of carrying fleets, families, and entire colony seeds into the vast dark. But beyond the border, the Merkiaari First Claw has learned to fight like humanity.

False distress calls. Mercy traps. Slave-world supply routes. Hidden repair depots. Human fear turned into doctrine. To answer him, Sebastian and the newly born Alasdair must create something that should not exist: Defender, a dangerous hybrid warship carried inside Khazara’s den, crewed by soldiers who have already died too many times and driven by an illegal intelligence that shouldn't exist

This is not a clean war. It is a hunt into enemy territory, where every rescue may be bait, every victory has a cost, and every countermeasure must be paid for in blood.

Five years after the Shan were nearly destroyed on Pandora, Harmony no longer waits behind human shields. The Shan have rebuilt their defences, launching vast Denships capable of carrying fleets, families, and entire colony seeds into the vast dark. But beyond the border, the Merkiaari First Claw...

Like everyone else who left a review, I also felt that this book was a farce. This book read like someone read the blurbs of the previous 5 books and then threw something together. None of the characters act or sound like themselves or that they've even befriended some of the others. It's almost like strangers who've read each other's resumes and get stuck on a mission together. The cadence in the dialogue is atrocious and makes the book even more bland. Maybe this really was written by AI, and I'm sad for how the series is being continued.

I was really surprised to see this book pop up and pleased that the series was back to life after a decade. But now I'm about a third of the way through and something is really bothering me about the book. It took a while to realize it and now it's impossible for me to ignore - it's also a very niche reference but I suspect anyone who knows will immediately understand. this book reads EXACTLY like an AI-generated reddit story that appears in a YouTube short. it's the same cadence, the same tendencies (like repeating very specific descriptions word for word as if you're being introduced to the thing or concept again, chapters apart). no one could mistake the previous books in the series for high art but there were entertaining and the author had a distinct voice, which is why the stark difference here is so jarring. I also feel silly even writing this given I'm reading this through Google of all places but I suspect the author decided to revive a dead series for a quick buck using AI

Finally!!!! I've been waiting so long! hope this is as good as the others!.... Update: I hate to agree with everyone else but they are right. something significant has changed since the last book. The tone and flow are all off. It reads more like fan fiction from a different author and is very hard to follow whereas the rest of the series flows like a movie. Also, a major subplot from the 5th book is completely absent. Im not convinced Mr Cooper wrote this...
