About this ebook

A science fiction thriller that"illustrates a terrifying near future that has a direct line of sight to the politics and crises of today" ( The Big Thrill ).

America has been devastated by climate catastrophes, depleting resources across the land. As citizens struggle daily to survive, an authoritarian regime has risen to power, determined to restabilize the nation and impose law and order against any resistance to government rule.

Jenna Khan lives with her father and special needs brother in Brooklyn, New York, an area ravaged by superstorms and flooding. Their community is further under siege by the nation's elite law enforcement agency, the Federal Service Unit. Formed to stem the tide of illegal immigration, criminal activities, and domestic terrorism, they are a paramilitary combat force that answers only to the president of the United States.

But these are not ordinary police officers. They are supersoldiers with genetically enhanced abilities. Jenna was part of the scientific team that helped rewrite their DNA, making them stronger and faster than average people but unaware of the mental and physical side effects inflicting them. Now, the government has targeted Jenna for her knowledge of the experiment. So has a supersoldier believed to be dead, desperately seeking a cure for his deteriorating condition.

On the run, Jenna must find a way to save her captured family, expose the massacres perpetrated by the supersoldiers, and prevent the government from advancing their genetic experiments that will alter people from individual personalities into a subservient populace.

"This novel isn't just ripped from the headlines, it's an alarm bell ringing from the near-future, a prescient warning of where we're headed next." — New York Times –bestselling author James Rollins
