A Legends of Faith Reader by Marilyn Boyer | Christian Homeschool History, Language, and Bible Resources

Perfect for Christian homeschool families seeking to inspire a heart for missions and a deeper trust in God’s providence.

Invite your middle and high school students to step into the adventurous lives of faithful men and women who dedicated everything to proclaiming Christ to the nations. Missionaries for Christ, part of the inspiring Legends of Faith series by homeschool author Marilyn Boyer, shares the remarkable true stories of those who answered God’s call to go—no matter the cost.

Through engaging biographies and vivid illustrations, readers will encounter missionaries who relied completely on prayer and God’s provision as they took the gospel to unreached peoples. Their courage, faith, and perseverance remind us that God can use ordinary lives for extraordinary purposes.

Recommended for 7th grade and up, this beautifully illustrated volume features powerful stories of:

  • Adoniram Judson—one of the first Protestant missionaries from North America, who spent 40 years in Burma
  • Robert Moffat—the devoted missionary and Bible translator who ministered in Africa for over 50 years
  • John Paton—who brought the gospel to the South Seas, trusting God through every trial
  • Hudson Taylor—founder of China Inland Mission, who labored years before seeing his first convert
  • Amy Carmichael—missionary to India who rescued children and taught the truth of God’s love
  • Gladys Aylward—a courageous woman of faith who defied the odds to serve in China
  • Eric Liddell—Olympic gold medalist turned missionary, who gave his life serving others in China
  • Betty Greene—the first woman missionary pilot and founder of Mission Aviation Fellowship
  • Jim Elliot—missionary martyr whose legacy still calls believers to surrender all for Christ
  • Brother Andrew—the God’s Smuggler who risked his life to deliver Bibles to persecuted nations

With vocabulary helps, reflection opportunities, and rich storytelling, Missionaries for Christ is ideal for personal reading or as part of a homeschool Bible, history, or language arts curriculum. Each biography can be read independently, offering flexibility for family study or classroom use.

Whether your family is discovering missionary history for the first time or seeking examples of faithful obedience, Missionaries for Christ will inspire students to live courageously for Jesus, trust His purposes, and shine the light of the gospel wherever He calls them.
