A large number of problems are given at the end of some chapters.
References are provided for further study and research.
A. K. MUKERJEE (PhD) was Chief Scientific Officer in the Centre for Energy Studies, IIT Delhi. He has over thirty years of research and teaching experience. Dr. Mukerjee has published forty-four research papers on PV technology in several national/international journals. He has evaluated, and also designed a section of, the street light system, for the Commonwealth Games 2010, under the jurisdiction of the New Delhi Municipal Council. Dr. Mukerjee’s areas of interest include PV systems and electronic instrumentation.
NIVEDITA THAKUR (PhD) is Associate Fellow in The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi. She has been associated with the field of Solar Photovoltaic Energy for the last 7 years. Her research was based on improving efficiencies of balance of system components of SPV systems including solar lighting systems. She is currently engaged in application-based research on SPV off-grid systems and their applications in rural electrification. This involves work related to development of technical specifications and best practices guidelines on solar lighting, development of stand-alone SPV system designs and their field deployment, their performance evaluation and improvement, especially in rural India.
