In this account by Dionysus Exiguus, Pachomius, a 20-year-old recruit during Constantine's reign, witnesses the compassion of Christians while detained for military service. Moved by their faith and kindness, he prays for divine guidance and vows to serve God. After being discharged, he becomes a catechumen and experiences a profound spiritual awakening.
