Interesting and often engaging, this book had so much potential to be MORE ... for example, the several action scenes should have lead to equally interesting investigative downtime or fleshing out plot threads. The characters are interesting, but the love story is both wooden and implausible. For such a unique and interesting setting as a Scottis isle near Arran, there is next to no way to visualize the isle or how the community lives and thrives. Read it, if you have the time and inclination, and stop after the action on the island. Skip to the end knowing that it all has a much protracted, excruciatingly boring HEA.
