An achingly beautiful story of love, betrayal, & perseverance set against the backdrop of the American Revolution. With the 250th anniversary approaching, I was eager to read The Belle of Chatham, & Laura Frantz did not disappoint. She delivers a heart-pounding, romantic epic that vividly brings the fight for American independence to life. I felt fully immersed as battles raged & cannons roared while one couple fights to survive. Highest of recommendations!

The Belle of Chatham is an absolute delight and so appropriate for America’s 250th Anniversary! This meticulously researched and vividly depicted slice of American Revolution history transports you through time to experience the colonial fight firsthand. This epic and tumultuous love story of Mae and Rhys is full of twists and turns before a hard-won happily ever after, and you will not be able to put it down.

Betrayal, conflicting opinions, distrust, and bitter family members along with impeccable research are all part of what make this novel a success. And, of course, as beautiful a historical romance as I have come to expect from Laura Frantz. The audiobook performance by Pilar Witherspoon completes the picture as she sets you amongst the history of 1777 New Jersey and New York. I received this book from the author/publisher free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review.
