About this ebook

“A pawsitively magical twist on middle school mayhem.”—Ingrid Law, Newbery Honor-winning author of Savvy

An SCBWI Crystal Kite Award Winner!

Megan Meyers has a foolproof plan to reinvent herself at her new school. Good-bye, dorky math nerd; hello, friend magnet! But her first day at Saguaro Prep starts off weird to the tenth power.

When she’s dared to “make something exciting happen,” Megan is thrown into the middle of an epic power struggle between the two seventh-grade Spirit Captains. So with nothing to lose, Megan wishes for “some magic” as her classroom’s cat clock chimes 11:11—and is granted an enchanted teen magazine that promises miracle makeovers and sure-fire secrets for winning friends and crushes.

But magic can have dangerous side effects, and as her social life grows exponentially worse, Megan begins to wonder if wishing was ever a purrfect idea.

  • A New Girl at School: Megan's plan to go from dorky math nerd to friend magnet at Saguaro Prep gets complicated, fast.
  • Magical Realism: When a magical cat clock grants a wish at 11:11, Megan gets an enchanted teen magazine full of promises—and problems.
  • Dealing with Mean Girls: A simple dare throws Megan into a power struggle between the two most popular girls in seventh grade, Ally and Rhena.
  • A Humorous Middle Grade Read: Perfect for girls ages 9-12 who love funny, relatable stories about navigating the mayhem of middle school, first crushes, and finding your voice.

About the author

Kim Tomsic was a classroom conversationalist and got in trouble (a lot!) with teachers for talking. The trouble spanned from the East Coast to the West Coast, because she was a military brat and the new girl at eight different schools. In between friendships, she discovered that a good book can be a welcomed companion. Her closest friends know that her favorite foods are ice cream, peanut M&Ms, and Li Hing Muis, and her favorite word is “possibilities.” Kim has two grown children and now lives in Arizona with her husband and dog; The 11:11 Wish is her first middle grade novel and is followed by The 12th Candle.
