About this ebook

The LinkedIn Edge is a detailed, practical guide to LinkedIn Profile Optimization for Career Growth for readers who want a clear path from understanding the topic to using it confidently in real situations. The book is designed as a structured learning companion rather than a shallow overview: it introduces the core ideas, explains why they matter, then develops them through realistic examples, guided practice, scenario-based explanations, and common mistakes to avoid. Readers are taken step by step from foundational concepts into everyday applications, with each chapter building on the previous one so the material feels progressive, usable, and easy to revisit. The main areas of focus include The LinkedIn Ecosystem Decoded, Diagnose Your Profile, Before and After: Three Profiles Transformed, Craft a Headline That Hooks, Write a Summary That Sells, The Keyword Blueprint, Describe Experience That Impresses, The 30-Point Profile Checklist, Seven Common Mistakes and Their Fixes, Build a Network That Opens Doors, giving the book a concrete learning arc that moves from orientation and confidence-building to applied communication, problem solving, and independent practice. The writing style is direct, supportive, and accessible, making the book suitable for self-study, classroom reinforcement, professional development, or personal improvement. It emphasizes practical understanding over abstract theory, so readers can immediately connect the lessons to conversations, decisions, habits, and challenges they are likely to face outside the page. By the end of the book, readers should have not only a stronger grasp of the subject, but also a collection of repeatable strategies, useful language patterns, mental models, and practical routines they can continue applying after they finish reading.

About the author

Kevin Hardage is a career development strategist and the founder of ProfileWorks, a coaching practice that helps mid-career professionals optimize their LinkedIn presence to land roles at companies like Google, Microsoft, Stripe, and McKinsey. Over the past decade, he has worked one-on-one with more than eight hundred clients across technology, healthcare, financial services, and professional services. His approach combines search engine optimization principles, behavioral psychology, and practical networking tactics into a repeatable system that clients can apply throughout their careers.

Kevin's own career began in marketing operations at a B2B SaaS company, where he noticed that the most capable people on his team were consistently overlooked for promotions and external opportunities because their professional profiles were invisible or poorly positioned. That observation led him to spend two years reverse-engineering the LinkedIn algorithm, testing hundreds of headline variations, content formats, and networking sequences. The result was a methodology that he has since refined through thousands of coaching sessions and workshops delivered to corporate teams at companies including Adobe, Salesforce, and Deloitte.

He is the author of two previous books: *The Visibility Advantage*, a guide to building professional influence through consistent content creation, and *Network to Net Worth*, which outlines a systematic approach to professional relationship-building that leads to career advancement. His writing has appeared in Forbes, Fast Company, and Harvard Business Review online.

Kevin holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife and two children. When he is not coaching or writing, he can be found running trails on the Barton Creek Greenbelt, experimenting with sourdough fermentation, or reading biographies of entrepreneurs who built unconventional careers.
