For everyone who loves a good series. This 38 volume story is one you can read over and over. It's popular anime adaption goes in a bit of a different direction to the manga by focusing on the card game side. Here you get to see rich characters grow as they rely on each other to defeat many villains. A Japanese high school kid deals with his split personality, of a pharaoh fighting to regain his lost memories.

I've only ever watched the 4kids English dub of Yu-Gi-Oh! and while I still love that dub despite the flaws, this manga is truly something special. Even without Duel Monsters in the story at all yet the shadow games played were entertaining, the early days of the iconic crew were great to watch, the beginnings of their friendships, the early days of Yami Yugi as a dark vigilante dealing dark punishments on those who harm or attempt to negatively impact Yugi and his friends is amazing. So glad to finally read Takahashi's original story.

About the author

Original Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi first tried to break into the manga business in 1982, but success eluded him until Yu-Gi-Oh! debuted in the Japanese Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1996. Yu-Gi-Oh!'s themes of friendship and competition, together with Takahashi's weird and wonderful art, soon became enormously successful, spawning a real-world card game, video games, and six anime series (two Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh! series, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal, and Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V).
