About this ebook

Ann Rule says, "Kathryn Casey is one of the best true crime writers today"—high praise indeed from the author of a host of nonfiction New York Times bestsellers including Green River and The Stranger Beside Me, the story of serial killer Ted Bundy. With Deadly Little Secrets, Casey once again explores the dark side of the Lone Star State, offering a riveting true story of a murderous Texas preacher responsible for the cold-blooded slaying of the mother of his children. Meticulously researched and spellbindingly told, Deadly Little Secrets pulls back the curtain on the horrific crimes of a supposed man of God who was more devoted to the Devil, and it demonstrates why such true crime luminaries as Edgar® Award winner Carleton Stowers and Gregg Olsen are confirmed Kathryn Casey fans.

And don't miss Kathryn Casey's latest book, Deliver Us, a riveting account of the brutal murders of young women in the I-45/Texas Killing Fields.

A suspicious suicide. A secret double life. And a family's relentless fight for justice.

  • A Man of God’s Double Life: Go inside the shocking story of Matt Baker, a charismatic Baptist minister in the Texas Bible Belt who preyed on women while his loving wife, Kari, remained clueless.
  • A Suspicious Suicide: When Kari Baker is found dead, authorities accept the typed suicide note and an empty bottle of sleeping pills at face value. But the strange circumstances surrounding her death leave her family with chilling questions.
  • A Family’s Fight for Justice: Meet the “angels”—Kari’s mother, aunts, and cousin—a relentless band of women who refused to accept the official story and launched their own investigation to uncover the truth.
  • The Minister and His Mistress: Uncover the secret affair that gave a supposed man of God the ultimate motive for a heartless Texas murder, and the web of lies he spun to conceal it.

Kathryn Casey never disappoints in any true crime book she writes simply because she is thorough, unbiased, seeks the truth and reveals the story for the reader to the best of her ability. The crime in this book is almost unfathomable to believe, but a very interesting read. It would be interesting to know, however, if Baby Kassidy's death was a homicide, but, I suppose God will handle that case.

Casey is fast becoming one of the really great true crime writers, up there with the likes of Ann Rule, Greg Olsen, M.W. Phelps and similar.
