What a fun idea - writing a Victorian story in modern times. Colin is an architect who is reluctantly in line to inherit a bankrupt Viscountcy with deteriorated estates. Mabel is a wealthy IT techie who hasn't had a break in a decade. They meet and enjoy each other's company, while not knowing about each other's background. I enjoyed this book, though I wasn't expecting such a closed door romance from Kate Pearce.

Watching brilliant Mabel sweep in to rescue an estate in need of her help, while clashing with charming but stubborn Colin is totally entertaining. Their banter, and chemistry make for a romance to cheer for. A feel good story that proves love and restoration go hand in hand.

This is quite lovely. I was thoroughly entertained and emotionally engaged with their relationship building and enjoyed how well they work together. Both characters are very likeable and I think they do a pretty good job with communication about everything except money. I love the family banter which was full spectrum from jaw dropping shock to laugh out loud. Never a dull moment, very intriguing. I received a free advanced copy and voluntarily chose to review.
