KAYLA ANN GOLDSMITH is a child development researcher and digital wellness educator with over fifteen years of experience working with families navigating the challenges of technology in everyday life. She holds a Master's degree in Developmental Psychology from the University of Michigan, where her research focused on the impact of digital media on social-emotional development in children and adolescents.
Kayla began her career as a school counselor in the Seattle public school system, where she worked directly with students, teachers, and parents on issues ranging from cyberbullying to screen addiction to online safety. Her firsthand observations of how digital environments shape children's behavior, identity, and relationships led her to develop a parent education program that has since been adopted by over two hundred schools and community organizations nationwide.
She is the founder of Digital Compass Family, a platform dedicated to helping parents raise confident, critical-thinking children in an increasingly digital world. Through workshops, online courses, and one-on-one coaching, she has worked with thousands of families to create sustainable and compassionate approaches to technology use. Her writing has appeared in *Psychology Today*, *The Washington Post*, and *Child Mind Institute* publications.
Kayla lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband and two children, ages nine and twelve, who serve as her daily reminders that every theory meets reality at the kitchen table. Her website is kaylaanngoldsmith.com.
