About this ebook

After 15 years of research and development, and with 4 more years of intense writing, this book is the first specialized technical manual dedicated to the Argentine Tango, created from real photos developed especially for this publication. Without being tied to any particular style, it addresses the fundamentals and technical bases of tango dance in the three aspects that compose it: the mechanical, the energetic and the emotional. It presents in a clear and orderly way all the relevant concepts such as: the axis, the postures, the types of embrace, the connection with the couple, the basic movements, the lead-answer process, the figures, the adornments, the poses, and many more.

Through an innovative method of analysis, the tango dance is divided into small fundamental parts that the author explains in a concrete and precise way and with a simple vocabulary, providing you with tools that will help during the learning and/or improvement of your dance, also allowing you to avoid injuries and solve any problems that may arise in your development as a dancer, whether social or professional.

This book contains a large amount of information that includes many of the author's own developments, who also offers us his advice and opinions to reach an elegant and organic execution that allows us to achieve the maximum objective of this dance, a deep emotional connection with the couple and with the music.

About the author

Julio Mariño is an Argentine tango dancer and teacher with extensive experience, having begun his career in 1995 when tango experienced a resurgence in the 1990s, eventually becoming the popular dance we know today.

Born and raised in a family of engineers, he changed course and dedicated himself to the art of dance from the age of 15. Julio absorbed the techniques, traditions, and essence of tango from a very young age. He was selected as a dancer for the ACETA program, funded by the Ministry of Culture, to train and learn from some of the most important milongueros (tango dancers) such as Portalea, Carlitos Perez, Toto, Horacio Godoy, and many others, with the goal of passing on the knowledge of these prominent figures to future generations.

Throughout his years of experience as a dancer, he has explored the styles of show tango, salon tango, nuevo tango, and milonguero tango. As a dedicated tango teacher, Julio developed a sequential, progressive, and organic teaching method that prepares his students for all styles because it is based on the very foundations of the dance. His pedagogy aims to transmit these foundations while adapting his teaching to the individual needs of each student. But above all, Julio is passionate about promoting the most important aspect of tango: emotional connection.

Creating a comfortable and gentle embrace, and opening the hearts and minds of his students to connect deeply with others, is his primary mission.
