I think this book is good for people to learn about how people appearence isn't what matters it the character that matters. Jazz was judged by many people and then she turned out to be a good person. honestly i kinda judged her too because when someone says someone looks like they are emo the first thing you think is ok they have piercings everywhere they dress in all black there clothes are always ripped up and they ar ereally scary but jazz was like that but she wasnt mean weird she dressed weird but she was really caring and she help Antonia a lot. she helped Antonia pull her family together she helped Antonia swim and get her life together. when Antonia first met her in the peer counseling center she thought by jazz's appearance that jazz was messed up in life but Antonia found out later in the book that she's the one messed up in life jazz is rich got a really big pool in her backyard she has the money the clothes the cars jazz is living good she has friends and everything, Antonia on the other hand goes home to two kids screaming and yelling everyday while her mom is meantly ill and she cant do anything for her family. meanwhile Antonia's mom go's to rehab for her problems and Antonia and the kids first visit there was terrible she starts yelling and freaking out Antonia's brothers get scared and start to cry. they leave but calls jazz for her to pick them up because they have no ride home. jazz helps out with Antonia and her family a lot. i think without jazz Antonia's mother wouldn't of been able to recover from her mentle problems. so people now and days are judging people by the way they look and not by there character and that's backwards...................................people shouldn't be judged by there appearance but the judgment of there character.

This was just fun to read because it made me think of don't judge a book by its cover. It's a great read for a high school student who might feel left out

I love this author and all of her books. I love how she takes real life situations and things gay/lesbian/transgender go thru daily and trys to show the outside world a little piece of what we go thru.
