About this ebook
The Impersonal Life (Unabridged) presents a direct discourse spoken by the inner "I AM," addressing the reader and calling for surrender of the personal ego to the indwelling Divine Presence. In brief, meditative chapters with scriptural cadence, it warns against dependence on phenomena, teachers, or borrowed authority. Rooted in early twentieth-century New Thought yet resonant with Christian mysticism and nondual insight, it proposes a disciplined program—silence, watchful attention, and action without self-claim—to align ordinary life with the Impersonal. Joseph Benner, an American metaphysical writer who published this work anonymously, sought to remove the cult of personality from spiritual instruction, allowing the message to stand unmediated. Balancing a practical career with rigorous contemplative practice, he drew on the Bible, Quietist currents, and Emersonian interiority, recasting them in a theocentric key of the "I AM." His subsequent writings extend the same thesis: authentic guidance arises from within when the personal will yields to the Presence. Recommended for readers of contemplative Christianity, New Thought, and comparative mysticism, this unabridged edition rewards slow, prayerful reading. It suits seekers wary of spiritual consumerism who want an experiential path, offering a lucid guide to living from the center rather than the self. Quickie Classics summarizes timeless works with precision, preserving the author's voice and keeping the prose clear, fast, and readable—distilled, never diluted. Enriched Edition extras: Introduction · Synopsis · Historical Context · Brief Analysis · 4 Reflection Q&As · Editorial Footnotes.
