About this ebook

A haunted house tour-de-force from the creator of THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES podcast.

GOING UP?

A dinner party is held in the penthouse of a multimillion-pound development. All the guests are strangers - even to their host, the billionaire owner of the building.

None of them know why they were selected to receive his invitation. Whether privileged or deprived, they share only one thing in common - they've all experienced a shocking disturbance within the building's walls.

By the end of the night, their host is dead, and none of the guests will say what happened.

His death has remained one of the biggest unsolved mysteries - until now.

But are you ready for their stories?

This book is essentially 12 short horror stories with intermingling plot threads and a billionaire murder mystery. while I was familiar with Sims horror writing going into this book and was not disappointed. even though some of the first 12 chapters stories fell flat for me there really is a horror for everyone to enjoy. the main qualm I have with the story is the ending. it was endlessly hyped up and just missed the mark for me. All the characters Sims writes are excellent, you know exactly what you need to know about them for you to enjoy the narrative, including Tobias Fell. That is not the problem I had. my reservations are on how it resolved. without going into spoilers, the cause of some of Tobias actions are a bit unclear with all the pov jumping, and worst of all the moral of the story is beats the reader over the head with a sledgehammer. I feel the representations could've been placed in the story more for the reader to unearth as part of the mystery. also the editings wack😔

I don't read horror often but I loved this and it's definitely worth a reread. It got harder and harder to put it down once everything started to converge. A good slow-burn horror is so refreshing not to mention the vivid writing style really helps you set a clear scene. The ending was really back and forth though, personally hard to keep track of so I wish it could've been something that was elongated and not so rushed? Still, I look forward to more!
