About this ebook

Raise Money-Smart Teens is a detailed, practical guide to Talking to Teens About Money Without Arguments for readers who want a clear path from understanding the topic to using it confidently in real situations. The book is designed as a structured learning companion rather than a shallow overview: it introduces the core ideas, explains why they matter, then develops them through realistic examples, guided practice, scenario-based explanations, and common mistakes to avoid. Readers are taken step by step from foundational concepts into everyday applications, with each chapter building on the previous one so the material feels progressive, usable, and easy to revisit. The main areas of focus include Why Money Talks Turn Into Fights, The Parent Money Story, Inside the Teenage Money Brain, The Five Money Conversations, The Allowance Conversation, The Three-Bucket System, Spending Questions That Aren't Lectures, The Family Money Meeting, Chores, Commissions, and Side Hustles, Mistake Audit: The Conversations That Do Damage, giving the book a concrete learning arc that moves from orientation and confidence-building to applied communication, problem solving, and independent practice. The writing style is direct, supportive, and accessible, making the book suitable for self-study, classroom reinforcement, professional development, or personal improvement. It emphasizes practical understanding over abstract theory, so readers can immediately connect the lessons to conversations, decisions, habits, and challenges they are likely to face outside the page. By the end of the book, readers should have not only a stronger grasp of the subject, but also a collection of repeatable strategies, useful language patterns, mental models, and practical routines they can continue applying after they finish reading.

About the author

John W Clark is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP) with more than fifteen years of experience advising families, and a father of three. He spent most of his career watching the same scenes repeat in client kitchens: smart, loving parents locked in silent or shouting matches with teenagers over money, not because the parents were careless, but because no one had ever taught them how to talk about it. He left private practice to focus on financial literacy, developing workshops and classroom programs that have reached thousands of middle and high school students. His writing on family money has appeared in national parenting and personal finance publications, and he writes a weekly newsletter on raising money-smart kids. He grew up in a home where money was never discussed, and this book is, in part, an answer to the silence he grew up with. John lives in the Midwest with his wife and three teenagers, where the dinner table conversation is occasionally about money and usually about everything else. This is his first book.
