Book Three takes a different direction. Options are not a passive, buy-and-hold strategy. They are tools — instruments that can be used to generate income from portfolios you already hold, to protect positions from downside risk, and to express market views with precisely defined risk and reward parameters.
Options have a reputation for complexity and danger. That reputation is partly earned — used recklessly, options can cause serious financial damage. But used thoughtfully, they are among the most versatile and income-enhancing instruments available to an individual investor. The covered call alone, introduced in Book One, can add meaningfully to the income of any portfolio of stocks or ETFs.
This book teaches options from the ground up. If you have never traded an option, Part One will give you everything you need to understand how they work. If you already know the basics, Parts Two through Four will expand your strategic toolkit considerably.
I grew up near London, England before moving to Canada when I was 13, though I had a modest upbringing I was surrounded by some of the wealthiest members of society from an early age. That environment gave me an education that no classroom could fully replicate.
While I was earning my degree in Economics I began trading stocks and options learning the basics of trading. After earning over 700% on a few call options I was hooked on learning more, expanding my knowledge on many different strategies and investment vehicles over the years.
By my mid-twenties I was working with directors and C-suite executives as a trusted analyst at multinational corporations, companies operating in the billions. This gave me a front-row seat to how major businesses are managed and how money moves at the highest levels.
The Market Mentor Series is my way of passing on some of the knowledge I’ve gained while being written for everyone, and backed by a lifetime of having real money on the line.
