About this ebook

A heartbreakingly honest story of an assault survivor whose unlikely friendship with a former college basketball player helps her heal. Full of heavy emotion and written with grace, Shred of Decency, a friends to lovers romance, grabs onto your heart and soul and doesn’t let go…

—Aidy—

It’s my word against his, and understanding the risk of someone finding out what happened to me is a hard pill to swallow.

When the pain and loneliness becomes unbearable, I run into the most unlikely person capable of stopping my world from caving in… A decent man, who spent time behind bars.

No one believes Morgan has much to offer anymore, not even him.

But this once? I know better.

Morgan is looking for a fresh start, too. I rely on his friendship while learning how to feel safe again. Yet the closer we get, the more I question how often the punishment fits the crime.

Aidy & Morgan’s love story is perfect for readers who love angsty, found family, new adult and college sports romances. A steamy slow burn about a good girl in need of comfort who finds first love in the arms of a bad boy basketball player, this opposites attract romance is the first full-length book in the small town North Carolina, Shattered Hearts of Carolina Series and has a guaranteed happily ever after.

I enjoyed this story. It's emotional story about family, patience, understanding, support and healing. Morgan and Aidy are so perfect but have some baggage and things they most overcome but it's an amazing journey. I love the characters and the story is very captivating.

5 Fighting-the-Demons & Being-Stronger-Together Stars⭐! A Highly Emotional story which 1st Broke my heart & then mended it. Also have Fun+Amusing scenes to balance it out! I love Morgan & Aidy❤, Adored their Friends & Family! This Story is Longer than the Previous one (Splinter Of Hope). ARC Received for a honest Review. Aidy, smart+sweet, endures & overcomes a lot here. Her adoptive parents are great & since Aidy turned 18, She'd grown close with Kimber (A's Birth Mother), K's hubby-Trig & their baby (A's half Bro) Owen [From: Splinter Of Hope]. Morgan, Caring+Protective, had gone to Jail owning up to a crime he didn't commit. He's currently working for Trig, piecing his life back together. His sis-Cece works with Kimber. He Lives in Trig+Kimber's home. The story starts with the aftermath of A heinous crime committed to Aidy: Rape, Her Virginity Stolen. Suffering, then Recovering. She doesn't tell anyone.. My heart hurted for her. She met Morgan when she came to visit Kimber+Trig & babysat Owen. Though Aidy & Morgan mostly talk in passing the next few weeks, The connection+Desire b/w them was evident..But they thought they were way out of eachother's league. Then Trig sends Morgan to rescue Aidy from a party.. A short Road trip, Him opening up a little... Their Relation takes a deeper turn. Being Friends, meeting His Sis, A+M Finally Confessing Their desire, Dates, kisses, Being Couple❤ *swoon*.. But then she panics when they make-out..Truth time. We find out that Morgan & she may have more in common then we initially thought. Morgan understands her, cares for her, is so sweet to her! Their Relation Grows, The two healing together.. Studies, All family time, Moving up, Troubling 'Friendly' Secrets, Christmas Fun! *Chuckle* “Falling in love is bigger than falling for a single person. It's accepting who they are and those they surround themselves with because every relationship, Every experience, weaves together, making a person whole and unique and worth loving.” ~Aidy But Morgan knows, for her to fully move on, The guy who wronged her must Pay..Vengeance. (I'm Glad M has helpful friends!) AND with A NEW YEAR, The two Have A NEW START. Start of their HEA. A Beautiful Future. ❤Love Confessions+Consummation❤ *Yay!* The Later Scenes were Cute+Swoony! I loved the Ending and The epilogue was Gorgeous😍. “There is nothing we can't get through because we've proven we're able to endure some of the worst curveballs life can throw at a person. I have an inner strength I was never aware of. I'm whole. I'm loved. I'm a survivor.” ~Aidy P.s. The path to their HEA wasn't easy, both had Demons to fight, But their Love was worth It! Jody, you've written a beautiful story😍. P.p.s. So excited For Cece & Dusty's Story❤.

About the author

Before becoming an international bestselling author, Jody Kaye used to cook dinner for her family …Or so her three sons say, since she still maintains they began eating the meal ingredients for snacks around the same time.

It makes her wonder if the phrase “just 5 more minutes” only counted for video games and not toward penning the last paragraph of a romance novel?

A voracious reader, Jody has written over 25 small-town books, including the steamy southern Kingsbrier and angsty Shattered Hearts of Carolina series. Among her emotionally relatable cast of characters are coming of age twenty-year-olds and later-in-life single parents. She even threw in a psychic medium for a dash of suspense!

Jody currently resides in North Carolina with her husband, who continually proves an insta-love romance can last a lifetime—and who’s glad he talked her into being a writer and out of the bougie French stove she drooled over.

Her children have either moved out or are currently waiting in line for their take-out order. She’s hungry and hopes they ordered extra fries.
