About the Author
Jodie White is a speculative fiction author and worldbuilding consultant with over fifteen years of experience crafting alien species and immersive cultures for novels, tabletop RPGs, and video games. Her debut novel, *The Chitin Accord*, was shortlisted for the Philip K. Dick Award and praised for its biologically grounded alien race, the Xylophorians. She has since written three more novels set in the same universe, each exploring a different sentient species and their interaction with humanity.
White’s expertise in alien design extends beyond her own fiction. She has served as a worldbuilding consultant for the *Stellar Horizons* RPG line and the *ExoGenesis* video game series, where she developed the ecology and social structures for over a dozen alien civilizations. She has taught workshops at the Clarion West Writers Workshop, the Odyssey Writing Workshop, and numerous science fiction conventions, including Worldcon and Dragon Con.
Her approach to worldbuilding is rooted in a deep curiosity about real-world biology and anthropology. She holds a degree in evolutionary biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and has traveled extensively to study human cultures in remote regions—experiences that inform her belief that the most alien minds are often the most human. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her partner and a collection of carnivorous plants that she insists are not an alien invasion in miniature.
