Touching romance (and spicy, too) develops between a veteran widow and her husband’s Marine partner. The problem is that he was not forthcoming with his reason for being in her town, Last Chance. The deception swirls inside him as he finds them falling in love. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Cowboy’s Last Stand is book 1 in the His to Protect series by Jill Sorenson, a new to me author 4.5 stars Jason Reed is headed to Last Chance to honor his fallen teammate and a promise to watch out for his wife and son. When he meets Natalie things don’t go quite how he planned. Natalie, widowed, single mom to a rambunctious boy, working two jobs, trying to process her grief from her tragic loss doesn’t expect to meet Jason who will eventually turn her world upside down. This book has it

A heartfelt and emotional love story. I read this book in record time. I was so drawn into the story that I couldn’t put it down. Natalie and Reed’s story was an emotional roller coaster. I enjoyed seeing them get close, but there were so many reasons they shouldn’t be together, including a secret Reed was keeping. It was a long and bumpy road, but in the end, they got their happily ever after.
