About this ebook
Jesus’ double promise of the Holy Spirit dwelling in and with his people in John 14:17 may help clear up centuries of confusion over the Holy Spirit’s role in believers’ lives.
Evangelicals have long held that the Holy Spirit is received instantly and automatically at the moment of salvation. Pentecostal-charismatics have long argued for a “second work” subsequent to salvation called “Spirit baptism.” What if both are right? The Holy Spirit comes in at salvation and with or upon God’s people at Spirit baptism? The Double Promise examines the Holy Spirit in Scripture and throughout history and answers all the basic questions:
Who is the Holy Spirit?
What is Spirit baptism?
Why receive him if one already has him?
What will happen when one receives him?
How does one receive him?
How will one know one has received him?
What should one do after one receives him?
Beyond receiving, The Double Promise will help readers develop that close, personal relationship with the Father, Jesus, and often missing Third Person and transform an otherwise boring, powerless, passionless Christian life. The church can again become powerful when it fully embraces the powerhouse of the Trinity.
