About this ebook

She came back to settle an estate. She never expected to rediscover herself.

After surviving cancer, a painful divorce, and the loss of the career she once loved, Chantal Davies returns to Sunshine Bay to prepare her late grandmother's seaside cottage for sale. Once the renovations are finished, she'll return to Vancouver, find a new job, and start over.

At least, that's the plan.

Instead, Chantal discovers an unfinished tapestry waiting on the loom, a shy rescue cat in need of a second chance, and a grieving twelve-year-old neighbour determined to finish the sweater Chantal's grandmother had only just begun teaching her to knit. As Chantal restores the cottage room by room, she becomes part of the small-town community her grandmother loved—from a struggling fibre arts cooperative to friendships that begin to feel like family.

Next door, single father Anderson Cole is raising two children while quietly carrying burdens of his own. The friendship that grows between Chantal and Anderson is easy and comfortable... until neither of them can ignore the possibility that it could become something more.

But starting over isn't as simple as Chantal expected. As old dreams give way to new possibilities, she must decide whether the life she planned is really the one she wants—or whether Sunshine Bay has been waiting for her all along.

Paws for Healing is a heartwarming later-in-life romance and clean small-town romance about second chances, healing, rescue cats, chosen family, and finding love when you least expect it.

Perfect for readers who enjoy cozy romance, mature heroines, single-dad romance, small-town communities, rescue animals, emotional healing, and happily-ever-afters filled with heart and hope.

I enjoyed this story, it was my first time reading a novel by Jeanine Lauren. I like that she tells about the lives of older people, but I found it confusing with other characters mentioned that weren't part of the main story. Do I need to read the books in order? I can't imagine what Chantel went through with her battle with cancer and her ex walking out on her. It was a slow build romance with her & her neighbour that is believable. I was gifted an ARCand I'm sharing my honest opinion.

This is my voluntary review of a copy I was given. Chantal gets busy right away when she comes to her grandma's house to ready it for sale. Before she's rested from the travel and fully unpacked, she's adopted a cat, taken her grandma's knitting student under her wing, and made friends at the local fiber arts co-op. As her friendships grow, she finds the thought of leaving harder to consider. I loved the solution to her dilemma and the happy-for-now ending to this story.
