With a universe like Gears to pull from, the locations and battles detailed are beautiful and engaging, but for the dialogue and character interaction it definitely felt like filler. The authors wanted to get from Gears 4 to Gears 5, and it was just disruptive. Not a bad book, can't wait for Gears 5 and definitely pick it up if you are thinking about it.

A decent story if you have some background on the universe and characters, might not stand up so well for newcomers to the IP.
