Little is known about how intercultural education is actually implemented in teaching materials and classroom practices. This book investigates the integration of intercultural learning in foreign language teaching practice. Combining textbook analyses with case studies that include classroom observations, teacher interviews and student surveys, the book offers concrete positive examples of how intercultural learning activities are incorporated into educational materials and classroom practice. The author highlights challenges and potential risks associated with the implementation of intercultural education, identifying critical areas for improvement and action in educational practice. The author explores the balancing act of diversity as a pedagogical lens and the book culminates in a Reflection Catalogue for Intercultural Learning which is designed to support professional noticing, dialogue, materials development and critical-reflexive practice.
