The story of the trial, of Sal and Mabel Mangano after many residents of their nursing home drowned during Hurricane Katrina. Although there ware some very graphic parts, the story was told in such a way that you could tell there was much empathy for both sides. There were no winners in this trial. The jury made the right decision in spite of this.

I had trouble reading several parts of this book. It so vividly accounted what so many people could never imagine, but so many of us lived through. I was thrown off guard by so many small details that had such impact even after all this time. The eerie silence, the lack of green grass and trees which were replaced by the gray and those haunting marks left behind to signal if the responders had found any dead bodies are blast of memories that shake me apart even to this day. Thank you .
