About this ebook

In this comprehensive survey of the Israeli occupation of Palestine, renowned Israeli historian Ilan Pappe exposes the history of one of the world's most prolonged and tragic conflicts.

Locating the occupation within a wider historical context that stretches back to 1948, Pappe dismisses the conventional view that the 1967 war emerged out of the blue, 'forcing' Israel to occupy the contentious territories. Using recently declassified archival material, Pappe analyzes the establishment of legal and security infrastructures that were put in place to control the population, revealing harsh oppression that was never advertised in international headlines, and which passed without any substantial Palestinian resistance for the first twenty years of its existence. Then turning to the years that have passed since the resistance began in 1987, Pappe offers hopeful visions of a future of reconciliation and peace.

Inquiry before indulgence: How is it even sociologically feasible to approach the Palestinian genocide from an Israeli perch. Pain is real and to describe it without experiencing it's reality is mockery of those forced to experience it. (The mockery is sheerly that when the author is one who enjoys privileges resulting and maintained by Palestinian pain. ARROGANCE! )Palestinian pain can never be in Hebrew. And this comment could not be posted without according the author's efforts with a kindergarten star; wish it was a sticker, so I can put it on his forehead: perhaps then the book might be a lil more than an academic indulgence, more at insult

Josiah what do u want him to do then? Become a Palestinian citizen, get married and have his wife die in an explosion and then write the book to have "eXpeRiEncEd pAiN" since apparently the pain that the Jews lived and the ones the Palestinians live in isn't equal and can't be in Hebrew. You realize not every Jew is some anti Palestinian bigot that profits off the pain and eats grinded up baby bones right? Holy you are the best example of what happens when you believe propaganda too much
