Reasonably decent story, though a bit bland and cliché. The worldbuilding is extremely lacking, while what little exists focuses on discrimination, apparently written by someone with no experience with it. "Just be nice and they'll stop" is the main method for addressing racism in the book. Apparently no demihumans had ever thought to just be nice to humans before.
