Book 3 of the Freedom series which focuses on Anya and Max, an age gap enemies to lovers story but they don't really act like enemies, they're more amicable to each other than hostile. Since I did not read Books 1 & 2, I don't know the overall story of how why and when things are the way they are. I only know that there's a rebellion against a corrupt government that kidnaps people especially children for their own nefarious intentions. I did enjoy the action and intrigue, though there wasn't much actual fighting involved and it seems none of the bad guys ever gets killed and only the good guys that die which feels kind of not enjoyable. Also, Book 3 is supposed to focus on Anya and Max but it wasn't at all like that. Instead more focus went to the interactions of the two pairs from the previous books. Anya and Max were only allocated a third of the book which really did not leave much room for their story to flourish and this was quite disappointing. The ending implies there will be a Book 4. So in conclusion, for me, this doesn't live up to the author's other science fiction series especially the Supreme Constellations series which I really loved.
