Grazia Deledda (1871–1936) was an Italian author and Nobel laureate born in Sardinia. She became the first and only Italian woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature (1926), recognized for her idealistically inspired presentations of peasant life and the raw human condition against elemental backdrops. Her narratives explore themes of morality, fate, and resilience with mythic intensity.
