In the context of the 650th anniversary of the University of Vienna, an international conference was held addressing the institutional mechanism of the jubilee: Which consequences has a pause in the continuity of institutional time? What types of cultural practices develop in the context of such events? What kinds of artefacts help establish jubilees and how do jubilees become a matter of artefacts themselves? What exactly is acclaimed and how are the events of the jubilees attributed with relevance? This volume presents articles based on the conference papers that discuss such essential questions systematically, historically and through instructive case studies.

Dr. Franz M. Eybl, ao. Professor i.R. für Neuere deutsche Literaturwissenschaft am Institut für Germanistik der Universität Wien. Die Forschungs- und Publikationsschwerpunkte von Franz M. Eybl umfassen die Literaturgeschichte des 16. bis 18. Jahrhunderts, die Medientheorie und Wissenszirkulation dieser Epoche in Bild und Text sowie Heinrich von Kleist und Thomas Bernhard. Als Associate Researcher forscht er an der Forschungsplattform »Mobility: Kulturen und Literaturen in Bewegung« der Universität Wien mit dem Projekt »Pictorial Mobility. Mouvance and Intermediality in Early Modern Print« sowie als Senior Fellow der Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel (2017/18) am Projekt »Buchwissen und Lebenswissen um 1700«.
