Most recently, I have been focussing on Innovative Learning Design Practices in Transformational Contexts (i.e. digital learning platforms, flipped learning, micro-learning, mobile learning, blended learning, video sharing, experiential learning, teaching methodology, facilitating techniques, learning journey, gamification, data analytics, AI). While in the early years of my academic research, I focused on Applied Linguistics, New Technologies in Teaching and Learning Foreign Languages. Specifically, my PhD thesis researched the capabilities and skills needed by foreign languages teachers. It outlined a complete Syllabus for them to face innovative digital learning environments, framing it around a curriculum made of 'information brokering' as much as 'instructional design'. Already in 2006, it was envisioning the implications of the Semantic Web, AI, MOOCs, common learning frameworks, e-learning and web ontologies - for the complete personalization of the user 'learning journey'.
