About this ebook

"O sacred banquet, in which Christ becomes our food…"

Discover the Eucharist anew through one of the most beautiful and profound prayers of Saint Thomas Aquinas. In O Sacred Banquet, Fr. Patrick Mary Briscoe, OP, invites you on a captivating journey into the depths of the Church's Eucharistic mystery — guided by Aquinas's brilliant spiritual insight. Fr. Briscoe reveals the rich treasury of theology, beauty, and spiritual fire St. Thomas hid in the few extraordinary lines of O Sacrum Convivium.

Rooted in Scripture, steeped in tradition, and illuminated by the wisdom of the Angelic Doctor, this powerful and readable book offers a compelling exploration of the Eucharist's four great themes:

Christ becomes our food

Enter the heart of Eucharistic theology as Aquinas explains how ordinary bread and wine become the very Body and Blood of Christ — and why this miracle matters for every Christian life.

We commemorate his Passion

Discover how the Mass is far more than a ritual remembrance. It is a real participation in Christ's sacrifice, where Calvary becomes present to us.

Christ fills our souls with grace

Through personal stories, the lives of the saints, and the teaching of Aquinas, learn how the Eucharist heals, transforms, and unites us more intimately with Jesus.

He gives us the pledge of future glory

Be lifted in the hope of heaven as you contemplate the Eucharist as a foretaste of eternal life — the banquet of the Kingdom already begun on earth.
