About this ebook

Research leadership has become an essential capacity in higher education as universities are increasingly expected to strengthen research productivity, scholarly collaboration, publication quality, and academic reputation. This book discusses research leadership within the specific context of English Language Education in Indonesian higher education. It responds to the growing need for lecturers, researchers, departments, and research groups to develop stronger research cultures while addressing challenges related to publication productivity, collaborative practices, research integrity, and international visibility.

Drawing on transformational, distributed, servant, strategic, ethical, and adaptive leadership perspectives, this book explores how leadership theories can inform research practice in English Language Education. Rather than presenting leadership as an abstract concept, the book positions it as a practical academic capacity that can support mentoring, collaboration, ethical decision-making, and sustainable research development. It examines how research leadership can be enacted at individual, research-group, departmental, and institutional levels.

A central part of the book focuses on publication practices, research integrity, and responsible digital research engagement. It discusses manuscript development, scholarly argumentation, journal selection, peer review, authorship responsibility, data transparency, and ethical research conduct. The book also addresses the use of digital technologies, bibliometric platforms, and AI-assisted writing tools in contemporary academic research. It concludes by proposing a contextual research leadership model for English Language Education, emphasizing academic vision, collaborative culture, ethical publication practices, mentoring systems, and sustainable research quality.
