About the Author
Faith Adkins is a literary critic and social analyst whose work explores the intersections of speculative fiction, political theory, and contemporary culture. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley, where her dissertation examined the role of surveillance and resistance in twentieth-century dystopian narratives. Her writing has appeared in *The New York Review of Books*, *The Guardian*, *The Atlantic*, and academic journals including *Science Fiction Studies* and *Utopian Studies*.
Adkins has taught courses on dystopian literature, utopian thought, and the politics of narrative at several universities, including Stanford and the University of Southern California. She is a frequent speaker at literary festivals and conferences, where she discusses how imagined worlds can illuminate real-world power structures. Her previous book, *The Utopian Impulse: Desire and Dissent in Modern Fiction*, won the 2019 Lyman Award for best first book in cultural criticism.
In addition to her academic work, Adkins is the creator and host of the podcast *Imagined Futures*, which interviews authors, scholars, and activists about the role of speculative fiction in shaping social change. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her partner and two rescue cats, and is currently at work on a new book examining the rise of eco-dystopian narratives in the age of climate crisis.
