When documentary photographer Sera Vance returns to Farrow Point to cover the threatened Harbor Arts Annex, she expects a short assignment and a clean exit. Instead, she finds herself working beside Calder Wynn, the school principal trying to keep the town's only after-school arts program alive long enough to secure a state grant. Their shared task is practical and urgent: restore the annex's neglected kiln room, document the program's impact, and stage a public exhibition before the school board vote in six weeks. Sera fears being seen as the daughter who left when her father's reputation collapsed; Calder fears that one more failure will force him to choose between the school and the promise he made his late wife. As salt air, overtime paint, and a stack of fragile student work draw them closer, they have to decide whether a life built around duty can make room for trust, and whether love can survive when both of them are counting down to a deadline.
