Eric Sager has spent the past eighteen years writing, reviewing, and teaching the craft of business proposals. He began his career as a copywriter at a B2B marketing agency in Chicago, where he noticed that the proposals his agency sent were consistently outperforming the agencies competing against them. That observation launched a career-long investigation into what makes a proposal persuasive, and why most proposals fail to close.
Over the next decade, Eric worked with over two hundred companies across software, consulting, professional services, and creative agencies, helping them transform their proposal processes from reactive bidding into strategic sales tools. His clients have included firms ranging from solo consultants to enterprise agencies generating over $50 million in annual revenue through proposal-driven sales.
Eric is the founder of ProposalLab, a consultancy that trains teams in proposal strategy, pricing, and sales communication. He has led workshops for organizations including the American Marketing Association, the Professional Services Council, and multiple Fortune 500 companies. His writing on business development and persuasion has appeared in *Inc.*, *Entrepreneur*, and the *Harvard Business Review* online edition.
He lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife and two children, where he coaches youth soccer and practices the fine art of saying no to bad consulting deals.
