About this ebook
‘Tis the season for murder—and Lord & Lady Hetheridge are back on the case. When miserly millionaire Barnaby Galen is found dead in his crumbling mansion, police find two corpses on the scene: the murder victim and the murder weapon. The scene is a macabre spectacle: Galen’s lifeless body is accompanied by a ghastly human skeleton, seemingly ripped from a nightmarish twist on A Christmas Carol. This deadly apparition was rigged to scare him to death—but by whom?
After a restorative retreat at his country manor, Tony Hetheridge is eager to get back to his job: private detective and consultant to Scotland Yard. His wife Kate, however, is still haunted by their last case’s violent end. In a bid to reignite her investigative passion, Tony teams up with their friend, DI Deepal Bhar, to delve into the dead man’s past. The Scrooge-like miser victim left behind a trail of enemies and a neighborhood brimming with eccentric suspects.
Will Kate be able to put the trauma behind her and resume her career at Scotland Yard? Or will Tony and Paul have to go it alone?
