A haunting yet deeply human book. The author employs a form that blends essay and poetry to depict the lives of Indonesian exiles who had to endure separation, loss, and displacement. Their stories reveal the profound wounds left by political upheaval, while simultaneously paying tribute to their strength and resilience. A moving homage to lives that have been left out of the historical record. Well deserving of 5 stars.
