About this ebook

The Harris List of Covent Garden Ladies, that wickedly witty annual register of the city's lightskirts, was once a London tradition. Now, as all Europe celebrates the end of the long wars, one scheming Marquess has revived it--and transformed it into a weapon to be used against his runaway fiance--and his oldest enemy.

A List no respectable lady wishes to be on . . .

Miss Brynne Wilmott escaped the monstrous Lord Marstoke once, with the inadvertent aide of Nathan Russell, the Duke of Aldmere, and the incredible generosity of Hestia Wright, the former courtesan pledged to help any woman in trouble. But now Marstoke's Love List is threatening her new future--and making her into a weapon to destroy her friend.

The request a certain Duke has no wish to hear . . .

The Duke of Aldmere doesn't believe in meddling. Fate has proven that interfering in personal matters only leads to bigger troubles. He has no wish to involve himself in Brynne Wilmott's affairs, despite her spirited beauty and damned tempting mouth. But she's discovered that his brother is mixed up in this business as well, and reluctantly, they agree to work together.

Their search leads them through some of London's most dangerous haunts and it quickly becomes clear that Marstoke's plans are more twisted and treasonous than anyone has suspected. Yet the danger and intrigue are as nothing compared to the effect that Nathan and Brynne have on each other . . .

Really, the plot of the book wasn't bad. There are some historical errors (such as the mention of a coin that had been out of mint for 150 years at the time the book takes place) but the typos were the things that took me right out of the story. Lightning what occurs during thunderstorms. Lightening is the dropping of a woman's uterus in the last weeks of pregnancy. It was a plot that also expected us to know the politicians of the day and didn't explain or introduce certain characters well.

Didn't finish. Only got part of the way. You could read a whole page and have nothing but his thoughts and then one sentence would be said and then another page of her thoughts. I was bored.

Great read. After realizing that she is been used for her fathers interest, she sets out to unmasked the traitors. It's Romantic, dramatic and suspenseful. I would recomend it because it was fast pace & beautiful.

About the author

Deb Marlowe loves History, England and Men in Boots. Clearly she was meant to write Regency Historical Romance.

A Golden Heart winner and Rita nominee, Deb grew up in Pennsylvania with her nose in a book. Luckily, she’d read enough romances to recognize the true modern hero she met at a college Halloween party—even though he wore a tuxedo t-shirt instead of breeches and tall boots. They married, settled in North Carolina and produced two handsome, intelligent and genuinely amusing boys. Though she spends much of her time with her nose in her laptop, for the sake of her family she does occasionally abandon her inner world for the domestic adventure of laundry, dinner and carpool. Despite her sacrifice, not one of the men in her family is yet willing to don breeches or tall boots. She’s working on it. Deb loves to hear from readers! You can contact her at deb@debmarlowe.com
