Decent pacing, good characters and tech. Some of the actions are a bit over the top - especially for a naval captain (commander). Still, the actions fit the character so you have to respect that. Then there is the action of the story - which is pretty sharply told. I'm a bit sketchy on the motivation of the captured alien, but I'll leave it at that. A solid 3.5 stars, but I always round down. Then again, definitely worth buying book 2, take that for what it's worth.

3* it is. still readable but please change the main character's sweet seventeen personality bcz of war trauma or something. Honorable mention nuclear blasts in space don't produce shockwaves like they do in Earth's atmosphere because shockwaves require a medium, like air, water, or solid objects, to propagate. In the vacuum of space, there's no medium for the shockwave to travel through, so it doesn't form. Instead, the energy from the blast is released as radiation, such as X-rays and gamma ray

Author has little to no idea of how to write military or how chain of command works. Main charater ignores orders. Only pays attention when she wants to. Is abusive and constantly acts like a teenager instead of a military officer in a hugely important role. Preaches about honor and not causing problems from a relationship and then goes and does everything she says she wont. Pathetic.
