À propos de cet e-book

Data Fortress is a detailed, practical guide to Protecting Your Privacy in the Age of AI for readers who want a clear path from understanding the topic to using it confidently in real situations. The book is designed as a structured learning companion rather than a shallow overview: it introduces the core ideas, explains why they matter, then develops them through realistic examples, guided practice, scenario-based explanations, and common mistakes to avoid. Readers are taken step by step from foundational concepts into everyday applications, with each chapter building on the previous one so the material feels progressive, usable, and easy to revisit. The main areas of focus include The Privacy Crisis: Why AI Changes Everything, The Privacy Triad: Anonymity, Control, Awareness, When Your Smart Speaker Eavesdrops: A Cautionary Tale, Your Phone Is Watching: Privacy Settings That Actually Matter, The Seven Deadly Privacy Mistakes, Digital Spring Cleaning: A 30‑Minute Privacy Audit, Privacy‑Friendly Alternatives: Choosing Tools That Respect You, Declutter Your Digital Footprint: A Hands‑On Exercise, Privacy in the Wild: Managing AI on Social Media, Deepfakes and Digital Identity: Protecting Your Face and Voice, giving the book a concrete learning arc that moves from orientation and confidence-building to applied communication, problem solving, and independent practice. The writing style is direct, supportive, and accessible, making the book suitable for self-study, classroom reinforcement, professional development, or personal improvement. It emphasizes practical understanding over abstract theory, so readers can immediately connect the lessons to conversations, decisions, habits, and challenges they are likely to face outside the page. By the end of the book, readers should have not only a stronger grasp of the subject, but also a collection of repeatable strategies, useful language patterns, mental models, and practical routines they can continue applying after they finish reading.

À propos de l'auteur

Tonya Winton is a privacy researcher, technology ethicist, and the founder of *Digital Boundaries*, a consultancy that helps individuals and small businesses navigate the complexities of digital surveillance and data protection. With over fifteen years of experience in the cybersecurity space, Tonya has worked as a senior analyst for a nonprofit defending consumer privacy rights, where she authored influential reports on AI-driven ad profiling and government surveillance programs.

Her writing has appeared in *WIRED*, *The Guardian*, and *Ars Technica*, and she has been a featured speaker at the Chaos Communication Congress, the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s Privacy Camp, and the RightsCon summit. Tonya holds a Master’s degree in Information Policy from the University of California, Berkeley, where her thesis examined the ethical implications of predictive policing algorithms.

When not decoding privacy policies or testing the latest anonymization tools, Tonya runs a small homestead in the Pacific Northwest, where she raises chickens and experiments with off-grid networking to prove that a low-surveillance lifestyle is both possible and rewarding. *Data Fortress* is her first book, born from years of teaching friends and family how to protect themselves from a digital world that often forgets they are human. She believes that privacy is not a luxury—it is a right worth fighting for, one setting at a time.
