About this ebook

Study Less, Remember More is a detailed, practical guide to Active Recall and Spaced Repetition for Exam Students for readers who want a clear path from understanding the topic to using it confidently in real situations. The book is designed as a structured learning companion rather than a shallow overview: it introduces the core ideas, explains why they matter, then develops them through realistic examples, guided practice, scenario-based explanations, and common mistakes to avoid. Readers are taken step by step from foundational concepts into everyday applications, with each chapter building on the previous one so the material feels progressive, usable, and easy to revisit. The main areas of focus include The Cramming Trap, How Memory Really Works, The Retrieval Effect, Spaced Repetition and the Forgetting Curve, Audit Your Forgetting Curve, Build Your Question Bank, The Same-Day Review Protocol, Design Your Spaced Repetition Schedule, Flashcards That Actually Work, The Explain-It-Back Challenge, giving the book a concrete learning arc that moves from orientation and confidence-building to applied communication, problem solving, and independent practice. The writing style is direct, supportive, and accessible, making the book suitable for self-study, classroom reinforcement, professional development, or personal improvement. It emphasizes practical understanding over abstract theory, so readers can immediately connect the lessons to conversations, decisions, habits, and challenges they are likely to face outside the page. By the end of the book, readers should have not only a stronger grasp of the subject, but also a collection of repeatable strategies, useful language patterns, mental models, and practical routines they can continue applying after they finish reading.

About the author

Danielle Ballam is an educator and study-skills coach who has spent more than a decade helping students learn how to learn. As a high school science teacher and later as an exam-preparation coach, she saw the same pattern year after year: capable students spending hours re-reading notes and highlighting pages, then collapsing under the pressure of finals. Her own experience as a university student — long nights in the library that produced short-term grades but little lasting knowledge — led her to the cognitive science of memory, and the research on retrieval practice and spaced repetition changed how she taught.

She now works with secondary school and university students, runs workshops for teachers and parents, and develops evidence-based study-skills materials for classrooms. Her coaching programs focus on turning study time into active recall sessions, building sustainable review schedules, and reducing exam anxiety through preparation rather than last-minute panic. *Study Less, Remember More* is her first book.

When she is not teaching, she can be found hiking, reading research papers, and testing new study techniques on willing volunteers — usually her own children.
