About the author
Chris Walton studied in Cambridge, took his doctorate at Oxford and was for ten years Head of Music Division at the Zentralbibliothek Z�rich. Today he teaches music history at the University of Music in Basel and is an extraordinary professor at Stellenbosch University. Walton has published several books, including a study of Richard Wagner?s years in Zurich (with Camden House, USA) and a novel (Sound Bites with Jacana, Johannesburg). He is currently a member of the Direktorium of the International Musicological Society. He is also active as a freelance translator.
